HK tsunami death toll hits 19

*

One more unlocated Hong Kong resident has been confirmed dead in the South Asian tsunami, bringing the death toll to 19.

 

The Security Bureau said the death was confirmed by Thai authorities through the victim identification process

 

Meanwhile, 21 Hong Kong residents have still not been located. All are reported to be in Thailand.

 

The Government will continue following the cases and provide practical assistance to affected Hong Kong residents and their families.

 

Police have contacted relatives of missing Hong Kong residents to collect DNA samples for analysis on a voluntary basis. Analysed DNA information and fingerprint records have been sent to Thai authorities for identification.

 

Hong Kong residents can call the Immigration Department hotline 2829 3010 for assistance.
