Lawyer cases adjourned to April 1

*
ICAC

Barrister Kevin Egan, solicitor Andrew Lam and two others will appear in the District Court on April 1 to plea on charges of alleged conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

They appeared in Eastern Magistracy today, and Egan was granted $50,000 bail, and Lam $200,000 bail.

They face five charges, including conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, conspiracy to disclose and disclosing information about the identity of a participant in a witness protection programme, and perjury.

Obstructed investigation

One of the charges alleges the four conspired with another person to pervert the course of justice. They allegedly obstructed and hindered an investigation and possible proceedings by seeking to gain access to a person whom they believed to be assisting the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

Lam and Egan were also charged with one count of conspiracy to disclose, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, to journalists information about the identity of a participant in a witness protection programme.

All alleged offences took place between July 11 and 17.
