13 arrested in anti-illegal worker operation
*
Labour Department

Nine illegal workers and four employers have been arrested in a joint Labour Department-Police operation.

Officers raided 10 workplaces, including interior decoration sites, eateries, waste paper processing shops, retail stalls and wholesale companies in Western District and Yau Ma Tei.

One of the nine arrested illegal workers is a foreign domestic helper and the rest are Mainland visitors holding Two-way Permits, mainly from Guangdong. They were found selling goods, cooking noodles, serving customers and labouring.

Since January, the Labour Department has conducted 92 joint operations with Police and the Immigration Department, arresting 530 illegal workers and 169 employers.
