A 2004 Legislative Council Election candidate has been charged for allegedly offering an advantage to a prospective candidate for the latter not to run in the election.
Kaizer Lau, a 53-year-old quantity surveyor, faced one count of offence under the Elections (Corrupt & Illegal Conduct) Ordinance and will appear in Eastern Magistracy on December 15.
Lau was alleged of engaging in corrupt conduct in relation to the 2004 LegCo Election (Architectural, Surveying & Planning Functional Constituency) on August 2, by offering a favour to a prospective candidate.
The alleged favour included facilitating the development of the prospective candidate's surveying practice through Lau's knowledge of business contacts in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Lau did not win his bid for the functional constituency seat.
