Security refresher courses considered

*

Refresher courses may be implemented to promote the adoption of best practices in the security industry. The Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority is considering the move for incumbent security personnel permit holders.

Addressing the 11th Asian Professional Security Association Conference today, Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee said the Government has attached great emphasis on the training of security personnel and on the upgrading of their skills.

At the end of September, there are more than 240,000 Security Personnel Permit holders, with more than 860 companies holding valid licences to conduct security and related businesses.

With the development of new technologies and the emergence of new threats and challenges, Mr Lee said the authority has conducted several reviews on the policies and requirements of issuing licences and permits, to maintain a high standard for the industry. A scheme for quality assurance has been introduced to ensure training course standards.
