Man dies in North Point crash

*
Hong Kong Police

Police are investigating a traffic accident in North Point morning in which a 30-year-old private car driver was killed.

Shortly before 9.40am, a private car was travelling westbound along King's Road.

On reaching the junction between King's Road and Oil Street, it reportedly lost control and rammed into the railings of the safety island. It then shuddered to the right, colliding with a public light bus travelling along the adjacent lane of King's Road.

The driver was trapped in the car and later rescued. He and a 49-year-old male pedestrian who was hit by fragments were sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. The driver was certified dead at 10.50am.

A Police investigation is underway. People who witnessed the accident are urged to call 3106 8848.
