Hal Blanchard
Ready to go: New York's Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office Director Sarah Wu presents the air ticket to Fordham Law School student Hal Blanchard for his internship in Hong Kong.
*

Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in New York has secured internship arrangements for two New York law students with the Department of Justice and the Judiciary in Hong Kong.

Columbia Law School's first-year law student Terry Chang will be attached to the Judiciary for six weeks from June 28 to August 6, working for a judge.

Ms Chang will do legal research on a number of areas including human trafficking or other immigration and asylum issues, intellectual property rights, piracy and Article 23 of the Basic Law.

Fordham Law School's second-year law student Hal Blanchard will be attached to the Department of Justice for 10 weeks from June 7 to August 13. He will work with the China Law Unit under the department's Legal Policy Division.

The office's director Sarah Wu hoped the internships will provide first-hand information and facilitate understanding about the judicial and legal systems as well as the rule of law in Hong Kong.

This is the second year the office has secured internship arrangements for law students in Hong Kong.
