Warning issued on fraudulent bank website
*
Monetary Authority logo

Caution has been urged over emails purporting to be sent from Hang Seng Bank which contain a hyperlink to a fraudulent website asking customers to reactivate their accounts by entering their user names and passwords.

The bogus site appears identical to Hang Seng Bank's Personal Internet Banking website.

Hang Seng Bank has not sent these emails and would never send emails asking its customers to provide passwords or verify their accounts online.

It has reported the case to Police. Anyone who has revealed their personal information and passwords on the fraudulent website should contact Hang Seng Bank at 2822 0228 and Police on 2860 5012.

The Monetary Authority reminded people not to access e-banking websites through hyperlinks embedded in e-mails. If in doubt, contact your bank.
