"Well done!": Deputy Commissioner of Police Fung Siu-yuen presents Bronze Awards to Hong Kong Award for Young People Scheme recipients.

Thirty-three Police officers and 450 Junior Police Call members have received bronze awards for their enthusiasm and outstanding performances in the Hong Kong Award for Young People Scheme.

Congratulating the awardees at a prize presentation ceremony this afternoon, Deputy Commissioner of Police Fung Siu-yuen said the scheme has been able to meet the needs and interests of young people.

It also encourages them to respond positively to challenges and to learn the value of helping others, he added.

He stressed that the Force remains committed to providing a wide range of opportunities and options to enable young people to develop their potential to the full.

"Police involvement in the Scheme is only one of the many aspects of our involvement in community and education-related projects to promote civic awareness among youths.

"We constantly strive to broaden police officers' horizons and skills in handling juveniles and to facilitate experience exchange with non-governmental organisations," Mr Fung added.

Excellent work, achievements honoured

Mr Fan presented 13 scheme instructors with Letters of Appreciation in recognition of their excellent work and continuing support.

Certificates of Appointment were awarded to 32 Police officers who successfully completed the Expeditions Training Course for Instructors, jointly organised by the scheme and the Police.

Launched in Hong Kong in 1961, the scheme aims to build young people's confidence and leadership.

Participants aged 14 to 25 will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals for successfully completing specified activities in skills, service, expedition and physical recreation categories.
