Two die, 3 injured in Kwai Chung fire

A 40-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman died after a fire in Kwai Chung, that left another woman in critical condition and sent two firefighters to hospital.

 

The fire broke out at the 20th and 21st floor of an industrial building at 49-53 Ta Chuen Ping Street, Kwai Chung at 2.38pm. It was upgraded to a No. 3 alarm at 2.57pm.

 

Firemen used four breathing apparatus teams and three jets to fight the blaze and conduct search and rescue. The fire was put out at 4.36pm.

 

They rescued and evacuated 13 people. The man was certified dead at Caritas Medical Centre. The woman was certified dead at Yan Chai Hospital at 11.05pm. Another woman, aged 43, is in serious condition at Yan Chai Hospital.
