A Police Senior Superintendent appeared in Eastern Magistracy today for alleged bribery, misconduct in public office, and possession of poison.
Sin Kam-wah, 45, was charged by the Independent Commission Against Corruption who also charged businesswoman Lam Chuen-ip in connection with the case.
Lam, 42, faced three counts of offering an advantage to a government servant, and three of exercising control over other persons with a view to their prostitution.
No pleas were taken and Magistrate David Dufton adjourned the case until June 12 for transfer to District Court. Both were granted cash bail of $20,000 each and ordered not to leave Hong Kong.
The three misconduct charges alleged Sin accepted free sexual services from women he knew were under Lam's control. Sin was further charged with accepting a gift, namely a box of cigars valued at $3,120, without the general or special permission of the Chief Executive.
The remaining two charges alleged Sin possessed three tablet fragments containing sildenafil citrate (Viagra), which is included in Part I of the Poisons List.
The alleged offences took place between March 2001 and May 2002.
