Appointments

2 senior Gov't posts announced

 

Director of Highways Wai Chi-sing, 55, will become Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) on June 16, succeeding Mak Chai-kwong who will retire after 33 years of service.

 

Deputy Director of Planning Jimmy Leung, 57, will take up the post of Director of Planning on June 28 from Ava Ng who will also retire after 33 years' service.

New jobs: Wai Chi-sing is the new Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) while Jimmy Leung will become Director of Planning.


Secretary for the Civil Service Denise Yue said Mr Wai is an experienced senior civil servant with profound knowledge and rich experience in the works field.

 

"He also possesses proven leadership and management abilities. I have every confidence he will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in his new capacity, and ably lead his colleagues to meet the challenges ahead."

 

She added Mr Leung also has solid experience and proven leadership and management skills.

 

Ms Yue thanked Mr Mak for his service, saying: "He has played a pivotal role in spearheading major public works projects and in promoting quality improvements in the construction and engineering industries."

 

She said Ms Ng was instrumental in successfully launching the HK2030 Study and made commendable contributions in delivering a number of significant planning studies which have far-reaching implications for Hong Kong.

 

Secretary for Development Carrie Lam also thanked Mr Mak and Ms Ng for their dedication and support to the bureau's work for the last three years.
