Proposed amendments to the South Island Line (East) scheme have been gazetted.
Many of the proposed amendments address public concerns expressed after the proposed scheme was gazetted in July. Some accommodate the latest changes and improvement measures proposed by the MTR Corporation which has been conducting the detailed design.
The scheme gazetted in July includes a 7km medium-capacity railway, providing a domestic passenger service between Admiralty and South Horizons with three intermediate stations near Ocean Park, at Wong Chuk Hang and at Lei Tung Estate. The railway will run in tunnels and viaducts according to topography.
The Government and the MTRC will continue to engage the local community on the railway. Subject to authorisation by the Chief Executive in Council, the MTRC will start construction next year for completion in 2015.
The public has the right to lodge objections to the amendments to the scheme gazetted today until August 3.
