The Civil Aviation Department has allowed three airlines to cut passenger fuel surcharges by 4% in April. They are All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.
The new maximum fuel-surcharge levels will be $81 for short-haul flights, down from $84, and $375 for long-haul flights, lowered from $390. The applicable surcharge levels are based on the ticket issue date.
The surcharges allow airlines to partially recover the rise in operational costs due to aviation fuel price fluctuations. The department considers and approves airlines' fuel surcharge applications in accordance with bilateral Air Services Agreements.
The last review was made at the end of February.
