Buildings Department

The Buildings Department approved 25 building plans in January - 11 on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four for commercial developments, four for factory and industrial developments and five for community services developments.

In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 15 building projects that, when completed, will provide 26,191 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 130 units, and 153,349 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use.

The department has received notification of commencement of work for 14 building projects and issued 12 occupation permits - two on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 217,831 square metres, involving 2,761 units, and 41,485 square metres for non-domestic use.

The declared cost of the new buildings completed in January totalled about $3.4 billion.

Four demolition consents involving four building structures were issued, 2,087 complaints against unauthorised building works were received in the month, and 828 removal orders on unauthorised works were issued.
