LPG vehicles running normally in tests
*

Vehicles participating in the liquefied-petroleum gas vehicle-testing scheme have been operating normally since its launch on January 11, the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department says.

Reports of taxis and minibuses stalling received by the department's hotline have dropped to single-digit figures since January 12. The hotline received one case today.

The task force investigating the problem met the taxi and minibus trades today, gauging information and views on the engine stalling situation and associated matters.

The three working groups under the task force are collecting information from various sources to make a comprehensive analysis into the cause of the problem.

The Government is monitoring LPG supply and gas quality, including taking samples regularly from LPG terminals and filling stations for laboratory analysis and ensuring regular maintenance by LPG suppliers.

Sinopec has completed the draining and refilling of LPG storage tanks at its seven LPG stations in Sheung Wan, Kwun Tong, Kowloon Bay, Ma On Shan, Tai Po, Kwai Chung and Yuen Long, all of which are running normally.
