Frequency spectrums to be auctioned
*
Office of the Telecommunications Authority

The Office of the Telecommunications Authority has published a consultation paper seeking views on the auction of frequency spectrums. Expressions of interest in the spectrums are also being invited.

The authority proposes an open auction for a total of 29.7MHz of frequencies. There will be one frequency block of 5MHz x 2 in the 850MHz band, one frequency block of 5MHz x 2 in the 900MHz band, and two frequency blocks of 4.8MHz and 4.9MHz in the 2GHz band.

The blocks will be subject to a one-off utilisation fee, the exact amount of which will be determined by the auction. Bidding will be open to all interested parties, who can submit comments by January 20. People interested in operating public mobile services using the frequency spectrum concerned are also invited to express their intention by the same deadline.
