Delta planning seminar held

*

A seminar on regional planning in the Greater Pearl River Delta Region organised by the Planning Department was held in Hong Kong today.

More than 200 participants attended the seminar, including officials from Hong Kong, Guangdong, and Macau, as well as experts, academics and representatives of professional and research institutes in the region.

The seminar was based on the Outline of the Plan for the Reform & Development of the Pearl River Delta (2008-2020), with a focus on early planning and co-ordination of cross-boundary transport.

In her opening speech, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam said the seminar provided a platform for experts, academics and practitioners in the region to contribute ideas and exchange views on ways to facilitate co-ordinated development and improve the regional transportation system, which is essential in promoting the region's development.

Other speakers and panellists included Deputy Director-General of Guangdong's Construction Department Cai Ying, and Macau's Chief of Office of the Secretary for Transport & Public Works Francis Wong.
