Highways Department

The Highways Department today invited tenders for the widening of the Tolo and Fanling Highways between Island House Interchange and Fanling.

Tender submissions should be placed by noon on October 23 in the Government Secretariat tender box in the lift lobby on the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices (East Wing), 20 Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong.

The works are scheduled to begin in January and will take three years to complete. They mainly comprise widening of a section of Tolo and Fanling Highway approximately 3.5km long between Ma Wo and Tai Hang, from the existing dual three-lane carriageway to a dual four-lane one.

Other works include widening of the interchange sections at Tai Po North Interchange and Lam Kam Road Interchange, construction of carriageways on bridges as well as construction, modification and demolition of bridges.

Ancillary works include drainage and sewerage, geotechnical and landscaping works, construction of water mains, installation of fire hydrants, construction of noise barriers and retaining walls, and installation of a traffic control and surveillance system. Click here for details in the Gazette.

The department has appointed Hyder-Arup-Black & Veatch Joint Venture to conduct the design and supervise construction.
