The Buildings Department approved 32 building plans in October - 10 on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and 11 in the New Territories.

Of the approved plans, 15 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven for commercial developments, five for factory and industrial developments and five for community services developments.

In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 4,769 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 56 units, and 91,194 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use.

The department has received notification of commencement of work for seven building projects and issued 12 occupation permits - four on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 113,984 square metres, involving 1,148 units, and 31,579 square metres for non-domestic use.

The declared cost of the new buildings completed in October totalled about $2.4 billion.
