Probe launched into 2nd Tai Po lift fault
*
Electrical & Mechanical Services Department

The Electrical & Mechanical Services Department is investigating another incident involving a housing estate elevator.

The suspension rope of a lift in Wan Lam House, Wan Tau Tong Estate in Tai Po broke November 9. The safety protection system stopped the lift from falling and no casualty was reported.

Fujitec, the lift's installer and maintenance contractor, has been ordered to submit an incident report by November 19. It conducted the last annual examination on January 31.

The department has conducted safety checks on the other 11 Fujitec lifts at the estate and all are safe.

It is also investigating an elevator accident in Fu Shin Estate, Tai Po, which occurred October 25.
