Calvin Lam has been appointed the Urban Renewal Authority's Executive Director for three years from tomorrow, the Development Bureau says.

The Chief Executive made the appointment on a selection panel's recommendation after an open recruitment exercise.

The bureau will work closely with Mr Lam to provide a quality living environment for Hong Kong people. He will deputise for the Managing Director in overseeing the authority's projects and two of its operational divisions.

Mr Lam is a registered professional engineer, a registered structural engineer and a registered geotechnical engineer in Hong Kong, and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He has served as a council member of the Association of Consulting Engineers for the past three years.

Mr Lam became a chartered engineer in 1978. He continued working in the engineering field and has worked with consultants and government works departments in Hong Kong, the UK and Australia.

His experience spans infrastructure construction, new town developments, and project and operation management.
