Smooth flow: Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng is briefed on Olympic transport arrangements near the Sha Tin equestrian venue. |

The Transport Department and Mass Transit Railway Corporation will work closely to ensure a safe and smooth traffic flow for the Olympic equestrian events, Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng says.
Today she inspected transport facilities in Sha Tin and learned about the special traffic arrangements and extended train services which will be imposed to cater for the events.
The MTR Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and East Rail services will begin three hours before and end 90 minutes after every competition event. Free shuttle bus services will also be provided between University Station and the Sha Tin venue two hours before and 90 minutes after each day's events.
Ms Cheng said the city can cope with the extra transport demand.
"However, last-minute changes may still occur due to uncontrollable factors such as inclement weather," she added, urging spectators to keep abreast of the traffic situation and co-operate with Transport Department advice.
