The Chief Executive has appointed Marvin Cheung to succeed Victor Fung as Airport Authority chairman, with two new members named and 10 members reappointed.
Mr Cheung has been a member since June 2003. The two new members are Raymond Ho and Benjamin Hung. Their appointments will start June 1 for three years.
The 10 reappointed members are Lo Ka-shui, He Guangbei, Jasper Tsang, Andrew Liao, Vincent Fang, Wilfred Wong, Edmund Leung, the Secretary for Transport & Housing, the Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury and the Director-General of Civil Aviation. Messrs Lo and He are reappointed for two years from June 1 while the other appointments are for three years.
Chief Executive Donald Tsang thanked the retiring chairman for his inspiring leadership of the authority over the past nine years.
He said Mr Fung has been the driving force behind strategic initiatives to extend the catchment area of the Hong Kong International Airport into the Pearl River Delta Region and building strategic alliances with Mainland airports. He has been instrumental in developing the airport into one of Hong Kong's most important assets, he added.
