The Mass Transit Railway West Island Line project was gazetted today. Subject to the Chief Executive in Council's authorisation, construction will start in 2009 for completion by 2014.

The Government said the project will involve extending the MTR Island Line from Sheung Wan to Kennedy Town with two intermediate stations at Sai Ying Pun and the University of Hong Kong.

Any objections to the project must be lodged by December 27. The scheme's plans can be viewed here.
