Precious photos: Hong Kong in Old Times - A Collection of Aerial Photos Taken in 1964 will be on sale at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2007.

Hong Kong in Old Times - A Collection of Aerial Photos Taken in 1964 published by the Survey & Mapping Office will be on sale with other map products at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2007 on July 18.

This photo collection is compiled from a series of black and white aerial photos taken in 1964. The photography was primarily used for topographic mapping. But recently, it was rectified and digitised to form digital orthophotographs - photos from which the effects of central perspective, relief displacement, and tilt are essentially removed.

To mark the Lands Department's 25th anniversary, the office edited the digital orthophoto data again and published the photo album. To enliven the book, more than 100 historical photos and hand-drawn pictures from the 1960s are also included.

The case binding 192-page album will also be available for sale at the office's map sales counters, six post offices, and Online Government Bookstore at $145 per copy.
