Airport blockade unacceptable: Eva Cheng
*

Secretary for Transport & Housing Eva Cheng says any activity that affects the airport's smooth operation is unacceptable, adding that Police will handle the recent blockade appropriately.

She told reporters today the new arrangement for taxis and vans has been standing for months, and different sectors have known about the details.

"It is important that most of us when we go to the airport, we take the airport railway, buses, and taxis, it's important that anything done in the airport area is lawful. There have been some unlawful activities going on. It is important that we have effective measures to tackle those incidents. The overall arrangement is for the orderly operation of the airport," she said.

Ms Cheng said there will not be any major changes to the arrangement which aims to ensure the airport's smooth operation. The Transport Department, Airport Authority and Police will have exchanges with trade representatives and see if improvements are necessary.
