Spur line fare-setting mechanism confirmed
*
Transport Advisory Committee

The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation will follow its East Rail fare structure in setting rates for the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line.

Transport Advisory Committee Chairman Teresa Cheng said after the body's meeting today that the corporation has taken into consideration passenger acceptance, market competition and the project cost in the fare-setting exercise.

On measures to enhance the safety of reversing goods vehicles, she said the Transport Department has been working with District Councils to identify priority road sections for improvement. The department has also studied the commonly used reversing devices and has recommended a set of performance requirements.

It will consult the trade on these requirements and the practicalities of applying the reversing video device to various types of vehicles before deliberating on making them mandatory.
