Airport security measures launch smoothly
*
Civil Aviation Department

New security measures for cabin baggage have been implemented smoothly without disrupting flights, the Civil Aviation Department says.

The department imposed new security measures for screening liquids, gels and aerosols in cabin baggage for all departing flights from the Hong Kong International Airport today. They comply with the International Civil Aviation Organisation's new guidelines.

The department praised the efforts of the Airport Authority, the Aviation Security Company and airlines, and thanked passengers for their co-operation and patience.

Passengers are reminded to take note of the new security requirement and arrive at the airport early for check-in and allow enough time to go through security processes, especially during the coming Easter holiday period.

They should pack liquids, gels and aerosols that they do not need whilst on board the aircraft into their hold baggage before they come to the airport.
