Number plate results set for May 23
*
Transport Department

The results of the 1,000 Personalised Vehicle Registration Mark applications selected by lot will be announced May 23.

They will be published on the Transport Department's website, in Ming Pao and the South China Morning Post. They will also be posted on Licensing Office notice boards.

An acknowledgement of receipt bearing an application number has been sent to applicants. Those who do not find their application numbers on the list should regard their application unsuccessful.

The department will later check the proposed marks selected against the basic combination requirements, and will send letters by registered mail to notify applicants of the results.

Deposit payment

If the selected marks meet the basic combination requirements, the department will send notices by registered mail to the applicants in batches, requiring them to pay a $5,000 deposit at Licensing Office.

If an applicant fails to pay the deposit within the period specified in the notice, their application will be cancelled. For enquiries call 2804 2600.

Upon receipt of the deposit, the Commissioner for Transport will determine if an application should be approved or rejected, with the assistance of a vetting committee.

Auctions will be arranged for approved applications. Auction details will be published in newspapers and on the department's website. The first auction will be held in September.
