The Transport Department has reiterated that it will not underestimate the seriousness of the problem of 'taxi vans' operating illegally. It will work with Police and the Airport Authority to prosecute offenders.
Efforts will be stepped up to publicise and educate the van operators and their passengers about the distinction between vans and taxis, and insurance implications.
It welcomed the taxi trade to make suggestions that will help combat such illegal activities.
