Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation Chief Executive Officer-designate James Blake will assume duty on March 22. Acting Chief Executive Officer Samuel Lai will stay on until the completion of a smooth handover.

Mr Blake said his priority is to rebuild staff morale and ensure they continue to maintain high standards of service.

He will deal with the corporation's issues in relation to the merger with the Mass Transit Railway and will work closely with KCRC Chairman Michael Tien, and the managing board to increase the corporation's transparency and accountability.

Mr Blake was the Senior Director, Capital Projects, for the KCRC from 1997 to 2004, responsible for supervising the implementation of the corporation's railway expansion programme. Before joining the KCRC he was Secretary for Works from 1991 to 1995.
