Slope safety
*
4 Tsuen Wan village houses to close
*
Civil Engineering & Development Department

Four dwellings in a village in Tsuen Wan affected by a serious landslide will be closed for safety reasons, the Geotechnical Engineering Office says.

The slope failure, which killed one person, happened below a squatter dwelling on Fu Yung Shan hillside on August 20, spilling 500 cubic metres of debris. Engineers inspected the slope and declared the area unsafe.

The Housing Department will make arrangements to rehouse the villagers, while the Lands Department will demolish the site.

The office's Landslide Investigation Study Team is investigating the slope failure and will determine if action is required.
