Jaffe Road footpath to be widened
*
Transport Department

The footpath on Wan Chai's Jaffe Road will be widened to improve pedestrian safety and the walkway environment, the Transport Department says.

The section is between Luard and Fleming Roads. Some of the existing on-street parking spaces will be changed to loading bays. The removal will minimise non-essential traffic circulation, and road space will be utilised more efficiently.

Landscaping works will also be conducted to enhance the environment.

The scheme will be conducted in two stages, the first on July 2 on a trial basis for four weeks. Water-filled barriers will be installed to demarcate the carriageway and the future kerb line to test the proposed layout.

With the provision of the loading area, loading of goods vehicles will be better regulated.

To ensure no obstruction to through traffic, no-stopping restrictions will be imposed outside loading bay areas.
