Forums to garner cultural district views

*

Discussion forums on the West Kowloon Cultural District project will be conducted to solicit public views on the three screened-in proposals.

At least eight forums will be held after the opening of the main exhibition in the middle of this month. The first forum will be held December 20. The main exhibition will first be staged at the Science Museum from December 16 to January 31, and continue at City Hall between February 5 and March 28.

Proponents will make presentations on their respective proposals and will be required to observe ground rules and guidance notes which can be viewed on the project website.

A moderator will be present at each forum, and participants will be able to express their views on the proposals while the proponents will be invited to respond afterwards.

A hotline (2152 8003) has been set up for first-come, first-served seat reservations, and bookings should be made a day before each forum.

Exhibits on show

More than 10 small-scale regional exhibitions will also be staged in various venues, including City Hall, Central Library, the Cultural Centre, district town halls and several MTR and KCR stations.

At the main exhibition, representatives of the proponents will explain their proposals. Specially arranged guided tours with professional presentation will also be held regularly to enhance public understanding of their proposals. There will be two tours at 11am and 3pm on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, whereas one guided tour will be held at 3pm from Monday to Friday.

Views can be submitted online at www.hplb.gov.hk/wkcd, by faxing 2186 7832, emailing wkcd@cedd.gov.hk, or by writing to Housing, Planning & Lands Bureau, 9/F Murray Building, Garden Road, Central (Attn: WKCD Team). The views collected will be taken into account in the process of negotiation and selection of a preferred proposal for the project.
