Cheung Chau sewerage system gets update
*

The Cheung Chau old town sewerage system will be updated starting in July. The work is expected to be completed in August 2007.

The Government gazetted the Stage 2 sewerage works with modifications today. The Environmental Protection Department said the Territory Development Department will construct a total of 3,475 metres of sewers in this stage of the works.

Sewage from the central area of Cheung Chau will be collected and conveyed to the Cheung Chau Sewage Treatment Works for treatment and disposal.

The modification involves a change in the sewer alignment and the associated works area on Chung Hing Back Street near Tai Tsoi Yuen Road.

The works are part of the infrastructure improvement programme for the Cheung Chau old town, which includes the gradual implementation of roads, drainage and sewerage works.

The Stage 2 sewerage works will be carried out in conjunction with the related road scheme.
