38 bus termini refurbished since 2000
*

Thirty-eight bus termini have been refurbished since 2000, Secretary for the Environment, Transport & Works Dr Sarah Liao told legislators today.

The improvement works include refurbishment of queue railings, shelters and regulators' offices.

Dr Liao said these were part of on-going programme carried out by the franchised bus operators to refurbish and beautify bus termini.

Dr Liao said the Transport Department has also started to carry out improvement works at some public transport interchanges including those at Lam Tin and Tin Hau to upgrade their appearance.

There are also plans to improve another five interchanges at Admiralty (East), Tsuen Wan MTR station, Cheung Sha Wan Plaza, Lok Fu and Yen Chow Street in 2003-04.

Dr Liao said since 2000, Hong Kong Tramways has refurbished tram shelters at four stops and constructed new ones at two other stops.

The company also plans to improve its terminus at Shau Kei Wan.
