Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung has presented Rescue Star Awards and Life Saving Commendations to 123 people for rescues at beaches and swimming pools in the last year.

At the Water Safety Campaign 2009 Rescue Star Award & Honorary Lifeguard Incentive Scheme presentation ceremony today, Mrs Fung called on the recipients to keep coming to the rescue of those in need.

Of the 123 recipients, 103 are lifeguards and staff from other grades of the Leisure & Cultural Services Department. Other awardees include Police, Fire Services Department and Government Flying Service officers, and the public.
