Cultural chief hails young artists
*

Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung today sent letters congratulating three young Hong Kong painters who won prizes in international contests.

Lau King-gi and Giovanni Chan, both four, were the youngest prizewinners in the 38th International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts Lidice 2010 held in Czech Republic. The exhibition adopted a theme coinciding with UNESCO's International Year of Biodiversity 2010.

Lau's entry featured a tiger, while Chan's painting featured birds, butterflies, flowers, trees and nature.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old student Lisa Tse won first prize in the intermediate category in the Jubilee 15th International Competition of Children's Art Works in Slovenia. Her entry featured traditional Miao attire.

Mrs Fung congratulated the young painters on their outstanding achievements.

"I wish to send them my heartfelt congratulations. I also hope they will continue to develop their potential in art and realise their unlimited potential."
