Woman recovering from enteroviral infection

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating an Enterovirus-71 infection with neurological complications involving an 18-year-old Western District woman.

 

She came down with a rash on her hands and feet, and oral ulcers April 10, with a high fever, headache and neck stiffness the next day. She was admitted to a public hospital April 13 and was diagnosed to have meningoencephalitis. She was discharged April 18.

 

She had travelled to the Mainland March 30 to April 10.
