Charles Chow to head Canto-opera body
*

Charles Chow has been appointed chairman of the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee and nine people members for two years from May 1, the Home Affairs Bureau says.

The new members are Brenda Chan, Candice Leung, Li Kin-hung, Eliza Li, Lui Hung-kwong, Ludwig Ng, Dr Kitty Tai, Tam Wing-pong and Frankie Yeung.

Sixteen serving members have been reappointed.

The bureau thanked outgoing chairman Dr Stephen Chow and six outgoing members Leung Hon-wai, Ip Sai-hung, Wen Choy-bon, Shi Fung-ling, Wan Fai-yin and Prof Andrew Chan for their valuable contributions to the committee's work.

Cantonese opera is the first item of world intangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong. The Government will allocate more resources to further support its preservation, promotion and development.
