Secretary for Food & Health Dr York Chow will fly to Singapore on March 28 for a five-day visit and to attend the Healthcare in Asia 2010 conference.
Dr Chow will call on Singapore's Minister of Health Khaw Boon Wan and meet ministry officials to exchange views on healthcare financing issues.
On March 29, Dr Chow will also meet Prof Tan Ser Kiat, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Health Services, to learn more about the public healthcare system in Singapore.
The secretary will then visit the National Heart Centre Singapore, the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Singapore General Hospital under the SingHealth Group.
On March 30, he will speak at Healthcare in Asia 2010, introducing to the participating international health experts Hong Kong's healthcare system as well as the challenges and reforms ahead.
He will also visit Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, sharing experiences and exchanging views with the hospital management on the use of the electronic health record-sharing system.
On March 31, Dr Chow will hold a meeting with the National Environment Agency to learn about the implementation of the agency's Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme and its general policy and specific measures to preserve and revitalise hawker centres in Singapore.
He will call on Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority Chief Executive Officer Tan Poh Hong and visit the Marine Aquaculture Centre to learn about Singapore's experience in facilitating the development of large-scale hatchery and fish farming production.
Before returning to Hong Kong on April 1, Dr Chow will meet Health Sciences Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr John Lim, and SingHealth Group Director Clinical Research Prof Fong Kok Yong, to exchange views on clinical research.
