January saw 288,813 Comprehensive Social Security Assistance cases, down 0.1%, or 326 cases, on December, the Social Welfare Department said today.

The total number of recipients during the month was 480,891.

Unemployment cases fell 0.6% to 33,089, while single-parent cases dropped 0.3% to 36,110.

Low-earning cases grew 0.03% to 15,637.
