Ill Tai Po tree removed
*
Leisure & Cultural Services Department

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department has removed a diseased tree from Wan Tau Kok Playground, Tai Po.

The 23m-tall tree had fungal diseases in its root system, affecting its transportation of nutrition and water, making it deteriorate and pose a danger of collapse.

The tree was listed on the Register of Old & Valuable Trees and located on a slope next to a soccer pitch.

The department applied fungicide to the tree earlier this year but was unable to improve its health.
