115 ill with gastroenteritis

Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating two gastroenteritis outbreaks affecting 52 inmates at a correctional institution in Southern District, and 61 students and two staff at a Kowloon City primary school.

 

The male inmates, aged 27 to 76, have come down with diarrhoea and vomiting since December 13. One was hospitalised. All are stable. Eight tested positive for norovirus.

 

In the primary school case, the 46 males and 17 females came down with diarrhoea and vomiting since December 6. They are stable.
