17 ill in gastroenteritis outbreak
*
Centre for Health Protection

The Centre for Health Protection is investigating an acute gastroenteritis outbreak affecting 17 residents and three staff members of a Tuen Mun elderly home.

The eight men and 12 women, aged 44 to 93, have come down with diarrhoea and vomiting since November 16. One was admitted to Tuen Mun Hospital. All are stable.

The centre has visited the elderly home and provided health advice to its staff.

To prevent gastroenteritis people should maintain personal, food and environmental hygiene. For more tips click here or call 2833 0111.
