Powdered milk wrongly given to newborns
*
Department of Health

Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital has wrongly given out Wyeth (Progress Gold) powdered milk gift sets to newborn babies when the product is only suitable for children aged one to three.

The Department of Health urges parents of babies discharged October 19 to 24 who were given the gift sets to contact the hospital on 2276 7407.

It is the hospital's practice to give out gift sets containing a tin of the same brand of milk formula the baby had been fed during the hospital stay.

So far 17 potential recipients have been identified and 13 of them contacted. Of these, three had received the wrong powdered milk.

The department has instructed the hospital to trace all potential recipients, conduct a thorough investigation and stop giving out free breast milk substitutes.
