A total of 180 wet-goods stalls and three fast-food stalls at the Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair have been successfully let in an open auction, the Food & Environmental Hygiene Department says.
The auction of wet-goods stalls fetched $2.946 million, beating last year's $2.134 million. The average bid price was $16,369, with successful bids ranging from $7,820 to $46,800. The highest bid of $46,800 was almost six times the $7,820 opening price.
The bid for a bigger fast-food stall was $490,000, against an opening price of $230,180. Those for two smaller stalls were both $280,000, against a $123,290 opening price.
About 620 people attended today's auction at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. The auction for the eight thematic dry-goods stalls and 284 dry-goods stalls will be held tomorrow.
