Reduced rent set for new estates
*
Housing Authority

Rents for 6,385 non-standard flats in the Housing Authority's four new urban public rental estates will be set at the best-rent level of $56 per square metre a month.

It will apply to the 799 flats at Mei Tung Estate, 1,600 flats at Chai Wan Estate, 1,462 flats at Choi Tak Estate and 2,524 flats at Choi Fook Estate. The estates will be completed in the first half of next year.

Under this rent-fixing exercise more than 80% of the flats are set at a rent level below $1,800 a month. The best-rent levels for all districts were cut 11.6% in August 2007.
