Diabetic man dies of human swine flu
*

A 79-year-old male patient with diabetes mellitus and hypertension has died of human swine flu at Princess Margaret Hospital.

 

He was admitted with flu symptoms October 3 and given Tamiflu and antibiotics. His condition deteriorated October 5 and he was transferred to the intensive care unit.

 

He was confirmed to have human swine flu the next day and died last night.

 

Meanwhile, four new critical cases were announced today involving a 47-year-old woman with asthma in Prince of Wales Hospital, a 45-year-old man with nasopharyngeal cancer in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a 36-year-old woman with bronchiectasis in United Christian Hospital, and a 14-year-old woman with cerebral palsy in Tuen Mun Hospital.
